Reading Challenge Winners

Congratulations to last Friday's reading challenge winners. Any child reading 3 or more times a week gets entered into a raffle and the winners get to choose a new book from our vending machine.
Attendance Matters

At our Academy and under the guidance of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, we emphasise the importance of regular school attendance to support your child's educational progress and future prospects. We urge all parents/carers to work collaboratively with the Academy and the Local Authority to ensure the best possible outcomes for their children's education.
Please refer to the following page on our school website

latest school news
- Football Before School
We have noticed that some children are arriving on site very early to play football.
Unfortunately, staff are unable to supervise this, and we have recently had several incidents where children have been injured before the start of the day. To keep everyone safe, we kindly ask that children refrain from playing football before school.
- Breakfast Club
Places for Breakfast Club can now be booked on ParentPay and must be booked in advance.
- Wraparound Care

- After School Clubs
We are also asking for any donations for any seeds or small plants (anything that is easy to grow) or any wildflower seeds for our outdoor club to use after Easter. Please bring them to the office if you do have anything.

- Paddy The Therapy Dog
I am very sorry to share the sad news that Paddy, our much‑loved therapy dog, has passed away. Following investigations at the vets, it was discovered that he had a terminal condition.
Paddy brought so much comfort, joy, and calm to our school, and we know many children and families will feel his loss. Mrs Prescott and I will be speaking with the children who worked closely with Paddy to support them as they process this news.
If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you,
Miss Jepson
- Ravenfield Book Swap

- Reminder: We Are a Nut‑Free School
To help keep all children and staff safe, please remember that our school is strictly nut‑free. Any food items found in lunchboxes that contain nuts will need to be removed.
We also ask parents to be mindful of other items placed in lunchboxes. Please ensure that anything with sharp or potentially unsafe components—such as skewers, cocktail sticks, or similar items—is removed before sending lunches into school.
Thank you very much for your continued support and cooperation.
- Try Before You Buy
Children can ask to try something from the menu without ordering.

- September Nursery Places Available
If your child turns 3 years old prior to September and you are looking for a nursery place, get in touch with us now to be added to our waiting list.
We have tour dates available as well as stay and play sessions for children.
We can offer our families a relaxed classroom based learning environment, with teacher led activities and enrichment such as baking, a dedicated outdoor play area, in-school workshops and school trips.
We currently have 15 and 30 hour places available, Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 3:15pm term time.
If you’d like more information or would like to book onto a tour, please contact us using the form below.
We’d love to welcome you and your child into our setting!

- Sickness & Diarrhoea
We continue to have students ill with the sickness bug. We follow HSC Public Health Agency guidance which states children should be kept off school for 48 hours from the last episode of either. If your child does have any sickness & diarrhoea, then we ask you to follow these guidelines and contact school as normal to report their absence. If your child is sent home from school, then this guidance will also apply.
- PE
Please find the PE timetable for next half-term.

- Sports Events
Here is the current list of all sports events for the rest of the year. All children in the appropriate year groups will have an opportunity to sign up for the various events. The selection process will be fair, and we will monitor who has been chosen for which event throughout the year. As always, dates and events are subject to change by the hosts.

'What I wish my parents or carers knew…': a guide for parents and carers on children's digital lives (Children's Commissioner)
The Children's Commissioner, Dame Rachel de Souza, has published a guide to help parents and carers navigate the challenge of managing children's everyday online habits. Written with direct input from children and young people, including teenagers consulted in schools and the Commissioner's Youth Ambassadors. The guide is designed to make difficult conversations easier and more regular.
The guide covers setting boundaries around phone use, talking about harmful content, and building ongoing communication that goes beyond a one-off conversation. The voice of young people runs through it, including this from one teenager: "Don't be afraid to be firm… If you are worried your child is seeing harmful content and you don't know what they're watching and it's affecting their behaviour, just take it that you know best, they don't."
