Attendance Matters

At our Academy and under the guidance of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, we emphasise the importance of regular school attendance to support your child's educational progress and future prospects. We urge all parents/carers to work collaboratively with the Academy and the Local Authority to ensure the best possible outcomes for their children's education.

• Welcome Back

We hope you all had a fantastic summer, and we cannot wait for the year ahead. 

• Football Before School 

​We have noticed that some children are arriving on site very early to play football. 

​Unfortunately, staff are unable to supervise this, and we have recently had several incidents where children have been injured before the start of the day. To keep everyone safe, we kindly ask that children refrain from playing football before school.

• Breakfast Club

Places for Breakfast Club can now be booked on MCAS and must be booked in advance.

• Wraparound Care

• Reminder: We Are a Nut‑Free School

To help keep all children and staff safe, please remember that our school is strictly nut‑free. Any food items found in lunchboxes that contain nuts will need to be removed.

We also ask parents to be mindful of other items placed in lunchboxes. Please ensure that anything with sharp or potentially unsafe components—such as skewers, cocktail sticks, or similar items—is removed before sending lunches into school.

There’s no catch or hidden charges!​

• Sickness & Diarrhoea

We continue to have students ill with the sickness bug. We follow HSC Public Health Agency guidance which states children should be kept off school for 48 hours from the last episode of either. If your child does have any sickness & diarrhoea, then we ask you to follow these guidelines and contact school as normal to report their absence. If your child is sent home from school, then this guidance will also apply.

• Managing Big Feelings

"Starting school is a big step, and children may experience excitement, or overwhelming feelings as they adjust to new routines and environments.

A calm adult can make all the difference, who can offer support to manage these emotions.

This is known as co-regulation: helping children feel safe, manage their emotions, and think more clearly during periods of change and transition.

The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood has produced a short film that explains this concept and offers helpful insights for parents and carers. I thought this may be a useful resource to share with families on your caseload, particularly where children may be displaying difficulties in managing change or adapting to new situations.

Brought to you by The Work-wise Foundation and Skills Street, this one-day event is packed with hands-on activities, creativity, science and plenty of spooky fun! 👻

🎃 Pick & Mix Your Spooky Adventure!

Children can choose the activities they enjoy most and create their own perfect day:

✈️ Flight to Transylvania – Take to the skies in our desktop flight simulators and create a witch’s broomstick to launch across our runway!

🎨 Halloween Arts & Crafts – Make spooky creations including ghost decorations, pom-pom spiders, paper plate spiders and paper pumpkins.

🧪 Spooky Science – Get hands-on with slime, witches’ brew, pumpkin explosions and magical fairy potions!

Activities can be booked individually, so families can pick and mix their favourites.
