WOW & Attendance Winners

Congratulations to all of our winners this week!

Reading Challenge Winners

Congratulations to last Friday's reading challenge winners. Any child reading 3 or more times a week gets entered into a raffle and the winners get to choose a new book from our vending machine.

Attendance Matters

At our Academy and under the guidance of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, we emphasise the importance of regular school attendance to support your child's educational progress and future prospects. We urge all parents/carers to work collaboratively with the Academy and the Local Authority to ensure the best possible outcomes for their children's education.

Please refer to the following page on our school website

School Attendance – Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council

You can find our attendance information here.

LATEST SCHOOL NEWS

  • Easter Special Menu

  • Football Before School

We have noticed that some children are arriving on site very early to play football.

Unfortunately, staff are unable to supervise this, and we have recently had several incidents where children have been injured before the start of the day. To keep everyone safe, we kindly ask that children refrain from playing football before school.

    Thank you,

    Miss Jepson

  • Reminder: We Are a Nut‑Free School

To help keep all children and staff safe, please remember that our school is strictly nut‑free. Any food items found in lunchboxes that contain nuts will need to be removed.

We also ask parents to be mindful of other items placed in lunchboxes. Please ensure that anything with sharp or potentially unsafe components—such as skewers, cocktail sticks, or similar items—is removed before sending lunches into school.

Thank you very much for your continued support and cooperation.

  • Sickness & Diarrhoea

We continue to have students ill with the sickness bug. We follow HSC Public Health Agency guidance which states children should be kept off school for 48 hours from the last episode of either. If your child does have any sickness & diarrhoea, then we ask you to follow these guidelines and contact school as normal to report their absence. If your child is sent home from school, then this guidance will also apply.

General News

  • WhatsApp

WhatsApp is the most widely used messaging platform on the planet, with over two billion users (forecast to become three billion by 2025), across more than 180 countries. The majority of those people (70%) open the app at least once a day – but what exactly are they seeing? Contact from strangers, fake news and convincing scams are all among the service’s well-documented hazards. According to Ofcom, WhatsApp is used by more than half of 3- to 17-year-olds in the UK (including one in three from the 8–11 bracket), despite its 13+ age restriction. If your child hops onto WhatsApp to stay in touch with friends or family, our updated #WakeUpWednesday guide to the service contains the key details you’ll need to support them in doing it safely.

  • Kids Online Safety Campaign

"kids online safety" resource which was recently announced by the DfE. Children’s lives are shaped by the experiences they have, including from the online world. This can be through learning, gaming, socialising or exploring.

Having access to the internet brings many benefits to children, but it can also create risks that families may not know how to manage.

With so much information available, it’s easy to understand why parents and carers can feel overwhelmed and unable to find the right support or advice about how to help keep their children safe online.

We’re launching ‘Kids online safety’, a new website created in conjunction with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and their media literacy campaign.

The campaign aims to support families and encourage regular conversations about what they’re seeing online, asking simple questions, like “who shared this” and “why?”.

The site has been designed to meet the needs of parents and carers by providing a trusted place for content that gives:

  • conversation tips to have with children about online safety
  • actions to help you support each stage of a child’s life online
  • parental controls information
  • support and reporting information for various risks, harms and issues

It provides clear information which recognises the challenges and fast changing nature of the online digital world.

In addition, it will also sign post to trusted resources from charities and 3rd parties, where parents and carers can get other forms of support (like speaking to an expert).
