All children are invited to wear something Red to celebrate Rotherham Day next Friday. 

Rotherham Day is not a single event but a borough‑wide movement, with activities happening across streets, schools, pubs, businesses and community venues. It aims to honour the town’s past, celebrate its present, and inspire its future.

• Purpose: To give Rotherham a moment of genuine pride and challenge outdated stereotypes. 

What is It?

Rotherham Day isn't one event in one place. It's a town-wide movement, happening across the whole town, in your street, your school, your local pub, your community. September 2026 belongs to Rotherham.

Rotherham Day was founded by Scott Thorpe, CEO of TMG Mortgage Network and a born-and-bred Rotherham local, who wanted to create one day each year when the whole town comes together to celebrate itself. Scott has personally committed to funding Rotherham Day from the ground up, not to promote TMG, but because he believes Rotherham deserves a moment of genuine pride, free from the outdated stereotypes the town is too often defined by. Therefore, TMG Mortgage Network and TMG FS are proud to be the founding partners behind Rotherham Day, and remain committed to supporting the town they call home.

Why it matters

For too long, the story of Rotherham has been told by others. Rotherham Day hands that story back to the people who know it best, the ones who live it every single day.

Our aim is for Rotherham Day to become an annual tradition, something every school, every business, and every resident looks forward to, takes part in, and is proud to call their own.
